The local conditions and the combination of wind power and sun light as the suitable energy source of the power system

A Virtual OJT Program Provided by the Virtual Foundation Japan

The Agzu village is situated in the midstream valley of the vast basin of the Samarga river which flows slowly into the Sea of Japan

The Agzu village is nestled in the heart of the Samarga river basin surrounded by low-lying mountain ranges. This makes it difficult to depend solely on wind power for electricity, nor is it realistically feasible to tap the river water power because of its relatively slow flow and the recurrent spring flooding after the ice breakup.
As a result of the 1999 summer field survey made by Mr. Eguchi of the Sophia Engineering of Kyushu, Japan, it was determined that a hybrid power system of wind and sun shine will be the feasible option to provide adequate power to keep the PC system in operation around the clock.
The entire purpose of having installed this system in Agzu this summer is to help the village commune (cooperative) secure a full-time power source so that it can use its newly acquired PC system to connect the Internet via communication satellite. This is about to be accomplished sometime between now and the end of 2000.
In order that this system is properly wired and operated, we are happy to provide the following technical information and setup instructions.
